As a Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that we create an engaging and positive environment and culture where software developer talent can flourish. You will also ensure that we achieve our business goals and continuously evolve as a technical function - both in terms of culture, ways of working and technology. We are looking for a T-shaped leader with deep skills in building and leading high-performing, autonomous software teams and the ability to understand and execute on business objectives from a technical perspective. We consist of 10 different cross-functional teams, and you will lead two of these teams with 15 direct reports.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and work closely with various colleagues in R&D such as other Engineering Managers, UX and Product Lead. We hope that you will want to bring fresh perspectives to this forum and have the desire to drive initiatives forward.

What you will do in this position

  • You will identify competency development needs and ensure that your team members have the right knowledge and competency to perform their jobs and that they are shared among team members
  • You will attract and recruit engineering competencies in line with delivery needs
  • You will be involved in setting and refining strategies and bringing them to life with tactical deliveries
  • Translate an assigned budget to understand future needs which you will convert into delivery targets
  • Coaching the engineering team and individual developers throughout the software development lifecycle and as they develop individually
  • Provide ongoing performance management, salary determination, and annual salary review
  • Responsible for multiple R&D teams in mobile and front-end technologies. Provisioning and staffing according to product and technology roadmaps

Qualifications and personal attributes

You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are not afraid to try new things, even if there is a risk of failure. As a leader, you can be a cultural role model and create a positive and inspiring environment, with a keen interest in employee development. You will be able to identify and communicate how your team contributes to Benify's success, and you will be able to guide employees towards a common goal to achieve business results. In addition, you will be able to take significant responsibility, build and communicate trust, and lead with a clear point of view.

To be successful in this role, we also expect you to bring the following:

  • Several years of leadership experience in software development, preferably in product companies
  • Previous experience of wage-setting and recruitment responsibility 
  • Agile values and hands-on experience in software development
  • Relevant education in computer science, software development or similar
